Today we celebrate session 100! Wow.
100 episodes is a huge milestone, and I want to take a moment to THANK YOU for being a part of this moment in time. In celebrating 100 sessions, I spent a lot of time in my thoughts about how to make this particular show something special.... meaningful and memorable. I also wanted to recapture the essence of what this show has meant to me, and why building this platform to support first-gens has been so significant.
The one thing that sat with me most was for us to talk about legacy. (It's so many ironies about the timeliness of this show, too. We'll talk about it) As you are journeying through this thing called life, it's important to stop and take a moment (or a few) to think about what all of this means to you. Is the path you're on the one that you want to be on? Are you doing what you really want to do? Why does any of it even matter? For me... it's about leaving a legacy and knowing that I was able to change the world in some way, shape, form, or fashion.
So, today, I'd like to offer you three things to consider as you're thinking about your life and world, and most of all, how to leave YOUR legacy.
Have you ever felt like you’re too late to start the things that you’ve always wanted to do? In our conversation with Michae, we learn that there’s no such thing as being too late to start or finish something. We talk about his plus size photography business and his real estate dreams of owning multi-family homes.
Michae Allen is one of the few Floridians who is actually from the state! Since middle school, he always had a camera in his hand but he never knew that photography, 'was a thing.' As his interest in photography never went away, 20 years later, a friend gifted him his first professional camera and he began sharpening his skills in the central Florida area. As a result of his connection with other black business owners, Michae saw a great need for black stock imagery and that spawned UmbrellaStock whose goal is to properly represent black people photographically.
